Service and Outreach
In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus says, “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” These words embody for us, as a community of Christ followers, what it means to reach out and “Share the Compassion of Jesus.”
Here are some of the ministries and ways we serve the community:
Every Monday at 6pm, members of all ages help serve a free meal for the community. The ministry serves those from among and outside our congregation, young and old, married and widowed, rich and poor.
We are part of a collaboration of Northmont Community churches and organizations called “Community Table.” This that provides ministries like: The Back to school fair, The Community Store, and Front Porch ministry.
In 2015 we helped create a ministry that happens annually in Centennial Park every year in August. It is an opportunity to serve our neighbors, bring the community together for a picnic, live entertainment, and other fun activities. Through our efforts and community sponsorship, the whole event is free for those that attend.
Since 2011, our garden ministry has provided fresh produce for the community, shows a love for creation and how things grow, and beautifies the space around our church.
